Chief of Staff Brigadier Mark Phillips, received Pakistan Ambassador, His Excellency Nasrullah Khan, when he paid a courtesy call to his office on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

The COS, and a team of senior Officers, engaged the Ambassador on a series of discussions, Importantly, was the proposal for the establishment of military to military relations between the Guyana Defence Force and the Pakistan National Army.

The men also examined a proposal for a visit by the Pakistan Military Attaché, who is based in Brazil , to the Guyana Defence Force , as well as for a GDF delegation to visit the Pakistan Army.

Ambassador Khan also related to the Officers, an offer from his country, of senior level courses for the GDF. They also brainstormed on the possibility of a GDF delegation attending the Annual Defence Exposition in Karachi, Pakistan.

Also coming up for discussion was the commonalities of Guyana and Pakistan in regards to their shared British history, language and Commonwealth membership, as well as cricket.

The High Commissioner extended his appreciation for his visit to the Guyana Defence Force.
