GDF PLAYS KEY ROLE IN SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION

Today at about 1130 hrs,  Mr. Bernard Singh, owner and operator of a Piper Arrow Aircraft, called to report that he had crashed near the village of Arau on the border with Venezuela.

 

The GDF responded by sending  one of the Bell 206 helicopters and trained

medical emergency personnel. The crash site was located nine (9) miles from GDF’s location at Kaikan. The helicopter crew was able to land  in close proximity to the crashed aircraft, rescue the injured passengers from the wreckage and extract them to the airstrip at Kaikan.

The pilot and his three (3)passengers were flown to the Ogle Airport late this afternoon and were subsequently transported to the GPHC accompanied by GDF medical personnel.
