Gdf committed to the professional development of its members

The Guyana Defence Force’s policy of ensuring the professional and educational development of its Other Ranks continues to bear fruit with the recent achievement of three members of the Medical Corps.

The Force recognises that the training of its members is essential to the sustained growth and development of the organisation and the country as a whole. These soldiers add to a list of trained successful graduates attached to the Medical Corps.

Lance Corporal Geralda Jeffrey graduated Best Student of the Registered Nursing Programme while Staff Sergeant Marcia Williams and Sergeant Verda Cordis were also successful at the Nursing Assistant Programme at the Guyana School of Nursing.

Jeffrey continues to do herself and the Force proud, dating back to 2001 when as a work study student at the Medical Corps, her outstanding performance caught the attention of her supervisors.

Jeffrey stated that she was thankful for the exposure she has received from the Force to which she has pledged continued commitment. “I always wanted to pursue a career in Nursing so for me this is a dream come true,” she said.

The Chief of Staff, Officers and Other Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force extends congratulations to the three soldiers for a job well done.
